This is one of our favourites from the Leaves series – Pine.

«Pine trees are everywhere in Norway but I like to take a moment to appreciate their perfection. They’ve evolved a scaly thick bark to insulate against cold temperatures while the flexible branches withstand heavy snowfall without breaking. The stiff needles, 3-7cm long, emerge from buds in pairs, with a waxy texture to reduce water loss. And precious seeds are protected deep within tough cones. Smart.»
